M-League football matches to proceed despite haze

KUALA LUMPUR - M-League matches will proceed as scheduled despite the haze conditions, The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said today.

Competitions committee chairman Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said they have received confirmation from the involved teams that all the matches scheduled for today (June 21) and tomorrow will go on as usual.

He said the Air Pollution Index (API) reading in most of the affected areas had improved (below 200) and as such the matches will be played as scheduled.

“We have decided to go ahead with all the M-League matches (Super and Premier League). The situation has improved and we expect it to get better as most of the matches are played at night,” Hamidin said after an emergency FAM meeting today.

The Super League matches to be played today include the Selangor vs ATM and Felda United vs T-Team matches as well as the east coast derby between Terengganu and Kelantan. Six Premier League matches are also scheduled for today.

The top-of-the-table clash between the Lions XII and Johor Darul Takzim is scheduled for tomorrow at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore. AGENCIES
